The 36th Annual College Hill Arts Festival will be held June 20 – 21 2014  in its usual spot on the UNI Campus!”

Sunshine Artist Best 200We invite you to join us for the 36th annual College Hill Arts Festival which will be held June 20-21, 2014 on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa at the shady corner of College and 23rd Streets. The College Hill Arts Festival has been named to Sunshine Artist magazine's list of 'Best Fine Arts & Design Shows' in the United States for four of the past five years.  Also, the Festival was named the 2006 Event of the Year by the Cedar Valley Tourism Bureaus.

Three independent judges (new each year) use a blind jury process to select 75 talented artists to fill the Festival with high quality art that demonstrates original design and unique representation of the chosen medium. These jury selected artists will exhibit and sell their original artwork at the Festival in categories including jewelry, sculpture, painting, pastel, ceramics, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, fiber, photography, glass, and wood.

The Festival Turns 36
In 1979, under the visionary leadership of Hugh Pettersen, the sidewalks of the College Hill business district came alive with artists. In the years that followed, the Festival has grown to be a signature event in the State of Iowa. The Festival is run entirely by volunteers whose main goal is to make fine art readily accessible to the public of the Cedar Valley. Each year the Festival showcases 75 talented artists who turn the corner of the UNI Campus at 23rd & College Streets into a museum. These artists have come to the Cedar Valley from nearly 20 states to give you, our patrons, the very best art experience possible. Please make these wonderful artists feel welcome by stopping by their booths to enjoy their art. And remember, anything you like you can buy and take home with you to enjoy forever!
The College Hill Arts Festival appreciates the continued support of our generous corporate sponsors and volunteers who contribute their time and effort to ensure a high quality Festival. In addition, The Festival is grateful for the tremendous support of the entire Cedar Valley and also our Special Patrons Program whose purchases exceeded $20,000 last year.

Complimenting the artists’ exhibits will be a variety of musical groups performing on stage; a hands-on creative activity for children sponsored by the Hearst Center for the Arts; and the Young Art Collectors Gallery which features original artwork created by exhibiting artists with prices of $10 or less and encourages children [ages 14 & under] to make independent choices about art. There will also be a variety of food vendors to entice Festival attendees. Picnic tables will be located near the food booth and the Performing Arts Stage. And, our trademark balloon arches add to the festivities!

Balloon ArchFor the 28th consecutive year, internationally recognized artist, Gary Kelley, will design the Festival poster. Kelley's limited edition collector’s posters for the 2009, the 2010, the 2011 and the 2012 Festival all received “Best in Category” awards from Sunshine Artist magazine in their nation wide Annual Show Poster Contests. The results of the 2013 contest will be announced in mid 2014.

On behalf of the College Hill Arts Festival board members, our countless volunteers, and corporate sponsors we look forward to seeing you at the 36th College Hill Arts Festival on June 20 and 21 2014!
